Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 3 (IGFBP-3), is a protein encoded by the IGFBP3 gene and one of a family of 6 highly related proteins. IGFBP3 is thought to function as a tumor suppressor gene. When down-regulated it is associated with a poor outcome in some cancers, while conversely, when it is upregulated it is associated with poor outcome in other cancers.
