le UDG) removes uracil from single-stranded or double-stranded DNA by hydrolyzing the N-glycosylic bond between the deoxyribose and the base leaving an AP (apurinic or apyrimidinic) site. This enzyme ( 1-10 units) is sensitive to heat and can be completely inactivated by a 10 minute incubation at temperatures above 50°C.
