Description

Turbo TEV protease is an enhanced form of the wild-type tobacco etch virus (TEV) Nuclear Inclusion a (NIa) protein, a cysteine protease that recognizes the cleavage site of E-Xaa-Xaa-Y -Xaa-Q-(G/S) (
e.g.,
ENLYFQG), and cleaves between Q and G or Q and S. Turbo TEV is non-autoinactivable, has robust activity at 4
o
C, room temperature or 37
o
C, and has much higher sequence specificity than factor Xa, thrombin, or enterokinase. Turbo TEV protease can be used for removing purification tags such as His, GST, MBP from fusion proteins. After cleavage the Turbo TEV can be removed using Ni resin.
